Coach
I’m sitting outside for the first soccer practice of the season. The little bitty kids are running wildly trying to figure out which way is the right way. The bit bigger kids are learning to be dramatic about thier exhaustion. My son’s team is older and has the drama down well, but their coach doesn’t seem to care.
This guy is lean and tough. I’ve worked out near him in the gym (not with him!) and he is a machine. His cut physique tells you he is an athlete, but more imporant for coaching is that he thinks like an athlete.
He doesn’t simply have the kids do random drills. Dribbling and passing are about “communication.” Shooting drills are about the total offense, not just one shot. All activities are focused on the goal: scoring more than the other team.
And he has fun. So do the kids. It is very cool to watch someone so gifted physically and mentally for a task. I’m thankful for him sharing his skills with my son.
I am grateful for people sharing their gifts with up and coming generations.
